Baby hat - Finnish winter proof

This hat has a genius design, as it covers the ears and forehead and keeps your baby warm even in the Finnish winter. In Finland, the babies take their afternoon naps outside even in the winter in freezing temperatures, because they sleep so peacefully. Of course they need to be protected with multiple layers of clothes, and this is suitable for the first or second layer. Or now in springtime on its own.

I was very happy with this yarn, as it's easy to knit, the colours are beautiful and it's really soft.

Yarn

  • Lang Yarns Mille Colori Baby
  • 100% merino wool
  • colourway 52 Country Garden 50g/190m (208yds)
  • used 1 skein completely

Pattern

  • Drops Design Alladin (free)
  • size made 6/9 mos

Needles

  •  2,5mm metallic cubic circular needle, 80cm (3 or 3,5mm would have been better for my gauge, or regular, round needles in size 2,5-3mm)
My project in Ravelry

The pattern was easy, very suitable for beginners. There's also a helpful video about sewing the seam on the hat in Drops design website. I made the cords with 4 stitches using the i-cord-technique, there's a useful Drops video for that too.

You can find even more patterns to use with this yarn from Drops design website, all patterns for yarn group A are suitable, more or less. Especially the ones that use Delight or Alpaca should work very well.
